The City of Cornwall is looking for new ways to address medical practitioner shortages in our community.
In May 2024, Mayor Justin Towndale announced the creation of a Task Force on Medical Recruitment. The Task Force’s mandate is to review our current medical recruitment programs, consult with key interest holders, research what other communities are doing, and report back to City Council with recommendations by summer 2025.
Task Force meetings are open to the public and will be hosted in Council Chambers located at City Hall, 360 Pitt Street. Residents are welcome and encouraged to attend regular meetings so they can listen to presentations and member discussions.
For those not able to attend in-person, all meeting agendas, live stream footage, and final recordings can be found online using the City Hall Meeting Calendar.
Community Engagement Plan:
Over the next few months, the Task Force will be seeking feedback from interest holders through presentations, written submissions, and surveys. When open for input, our survey links and public forum questions will be found here.
In the meantime, if you have a concern, exciting idea, or perspective to share with the Task Force, you are welcome to email medicaltaskforce@cornwall.ca.
