FAQs
How are water and wastewater services funded?
Water and wastewater services are funded through water and wastewater rates that are charged on all water and wastewater customers in the City.
What is the current water and wastewater rate structure?
The bills for all residential households and most businesses are based on the number of water fixtures in each property such as the number of toilets, kitchen sinks, or showers. The bills for some businesses where water meters have been installed are based on the volume of water consumed. (Include links to most recent water and sewer rate by-laws)
Why is the City undertaking a Water Conservation and Servicing Master Plan?
The Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks has identified that the City does not have a water conservation program. This could impact the City’s inspection ratings. The City is undertaking the Water Conservation and Servicing Master Plan in response to this issue. This also supports the City to work towards improvements for sustainability and climate change. There may also be other benefits and cost savings as a result of the recommendations.
