The City of Cornwall and the St. Lawrence River Institute's Future Climate Leaders are banding together, and we have one big question:

How do you think about climate change?

We hope that you join the conversation this fall. From September 20 to November 20, show us what climate change looks like! Use the Ideas tool (below) to submit a photo, artwork, poetry, video - however you prefer to express yourself.

Until November 18, we invite you to participate in the survey and question-answer forum. Participate in all activities or some of them - the choice is yours!

If you do decide to share your thoughts, the City and the River Institute will use your feedback to make informed decisions about climate change.

  • Share In the city I used to live in they'd have profs, scientists, PhD students, and experts in every few months to give a free public lectures (quite a few times they were interactive) on all kinds of nature related subjects like bats (with bat detectors you could take home and use for 24 hrs), moths (where they'd set up some bright lights outside so you could go and see them up close), bees, and one time we met at 5am to listen to various recorded bird calls (indoors) before we went into the park at 6am with some ornithologists to see what birds we could identify. Does Cornwall do something like this? It was such an amazing way to learn. on Facebook Share In the city I used to live in they'd have profs, scientists, PhD students, and experts in every few months to give a free public lectures (quite a few times they were interactive) on all kinds of nature related subjects like bats (with bat detectors you could take home and use for 24 hrs), moths (where they'd set up some bright lights outside so you could go and see them up close), bees, and one time we met at 5am to listen to various recorded bird calls (indoors) before we went into the park at 6am with some ornithologists to see what birds we could identify. I'm so glad you asked this question! The St. Lawrence River Institute has great hands-on programming. You should be able to see events as they are planned on their website or Facebook page: https://riverinstitute.ca/

The City of Cornwall has started to offer some events here and there, mostly online due to the pandemic. This year we hosted a webinar about rain and pollinator gardens and about home energy grants. I love your suggestions, and I think our Sustainable Projects Coordinator Angie Parker will be able to look into them further.

I'm so glad you asked this question! We're about to launch a Youth for Climate Action Working Group which will have student representatives from every Cornwall high school working together.
